Soft tissues are what we are made of. It is a blanket term, which covers a wide range of manual therapy techniques that is used to address issues we may have with our muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia - basically everything that is not bone.

A quick overview of the therapies NLSTT provides:

  • Scar therapy, a non invasive physical therapy, for treating scar tissue, fibrosis and adhesions.

  • Sports massage, with the purpose of reducing discomfort, helping to alleviate tight and/or overworked muscles, and aiming to restore functionality in joints and muscles for ease of movement.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle treatment to assist in the movement of lymph, to aid in the decongestion of the lymphatic and circulatory systems. I am a qualified lymphoedema management manual therapist, as well as a qualified post surgery therapist.

  • Oncology massage is specifically for those who currently have, or have experienced cancer. This type of massage can reduce the symptoms associated with treatment of this disease. For those in remission, being oncology trained means I am able to recognise what you have been through, and have the knowledge to be able to offer you therapy that is safe.

  • Dry cupping therapy (myofascial cupping therapy) is the use of decompressed cups on musculoskeletal pain and discomfort, which creates a vacuum for manipulating the underlying tissues like skin, fascia, muscle. The cups can be used statically, or actively. Please note, this therapy may leave cupping marks post treatment.

Soft tissue therapy addresses the demands our modern lifestyles place on our bodies. From office and manual workers, to athletes and weekend hobbyists, to those with short or long term health conditions, or if you simply want and appreciate a body ‘MOT’. I can provide therapy is for all ages, from all walks of life.

Massage and Oncology

Statistics show that cancer can affect 1 in 2 of us. Anyone who has previously tried to have any massage, beauty treatment, spa day, physiotherapy or any other hands on treatment will know how hard it is and would most likely have been declined. Cancer has been labelled a big ‘no no’ for so long, because it is believed that massage spreads cancer. I can assure you that massage does not spread cancer.

Cancer is life changing. A diagnosis can bring anxiety and fear, and the treatment for this disease will affect people on a physical and an emotional level.

Oncology massage is designed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, but also to help cancer sufferers through their journey. It also plays an important role in palliative care and symptom relief.

Many people find friends and family shy away from physical touch when you have cancer, primarily for fear of hurting you. The loss of human contact can have a detrimental effect and cannot be under estimated. Oncology massage is all about helping someone feel better and more comfortable whilst on their journey. It is a gentle and nurturing treatment, providing that human contact, and allowing the client to escape for a short while from their diagnosis.

This type of massage therapy isn’t well known, and there are so few people actually qualified in this area. I am a qualified and insured oncology massage therapist. Can I be of help to you?
